A classic expression of the Loire Valley's cooler climate, Domaine Paul Prieur is located in Verdigny in the heart of the Sancerre appellation. This wine reveals delicate notes of red cherry and cranberry, with a subtle hint of smoky spice on the finish.
Paul Prieur Sancerre Rouge is a pure Pinot Noir from the limestone and flint soils of Sancerre in the Loire Valley. Far less common than the region’s whites, this red is delicately structured and finely aromatic, with minimal oak influence to preserve freshness and terroir expression.
Fragrant notes of wild strawberry, cranberry, and dried herbs. The palate is light and silky, with red cherry, subtle spice, and a touch of earth, supported by fine tannins and a fresh, mineral finish.
Contains sulphites.
Paul Prieur was among the first growers in Sancerre to bottle and label his own wine in the 1950s—a bold move at the time. Today, the domaine is run by his grandson Luc, who continues to champion the lesser-seen red side of Sancerre, crafting Pinot Noirs that are elegant, precise, and rooted in place.
