Agiorgitiko takes its name from the town of Agios Georgios in Nemea, the region most closely associated with the grape in the Peloponnese. Often referred to as the “Blood of Hercules” due to local mythology linking Nemea to the hero’s first labour, the grape is prized for producing reds that combine soft texture with vibrant fruit, making it one of Greece’s most versatile native varieties.
