The Maranges appellation is located just 10km south of Puligny and Chassagne-Montrachet, and Domaine Chevrot is one of its leading producers. Their Maranges blanc comes from vines grown on gravel and granite soils on the lower part of the slope. The juice is fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts; malolactic fermentation is allowed. The wine ages for 12 months in French oak (15% new) and a further 3 months in stainless steel.
Ripe yellow fruit aromas with notes of bergamot and hazelnuts, fresh acidity and a rich texture
Contains sulphites (SO2 only added at the bottling stage and is under 60mg/l)
Brothers Pablo and Vincent farm their 19 hectares estate organically, and have introduced horse-drawn ploughing for less compacted soil; their draft horses Valentine and Hotesse are considered integral members of the team.
