Dry strawberry flavour peeks out from between the citrus and classical biscuit flavours of traditional method fizz.
Groote Post is a historic family-owned wine estate located in the scenic Darling Hills along South Africa’s West Coast. 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir made from south facing sloped vineyards. After fermentation the wine is blended with previous vintages and a final blend is then bottled for the second fermentation (cap classique). Hence the wine being labelled non-vintage. The second fermentation and ageing normally takes 12—14 months.
The wine is refreshingly dry with abundant strawberry and raspberry flavours. It has a delicate mousse which supports a dry, rich palate.
Contains sulfites.
The Groote Post Homestead, built in 1808, was once the only genuine "shooting box" of Lord Charles Somerset and later became the home of renowned author Hildagonda Duckitt. The farm’s name reflects its origins as the largest guarding post in the area, established to protect cattle from marauding Hottentot stock thieves.
