The very essence of summer fruits encapsulated in a textured, creamy and hugely generous wine from Gerard Bertrand, which leaves the best Provencale rosés panting in its wake.
La Villa from Château la Sauvageonne is a premier rosé produced by Gerard Bertrand. This blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Vermentino and Viogniers comes from small plots of old vines from the estate just outside Montpellier. The grapes are handpicked between sunrise and 10 am, in order to take advantage of the berries freshness. The full bunches of grapes are pressed directly at reception in the wine storehouses. Only the free run juice and the first press are used to elaborate this cuvée. After a cold setting, the fermentations begin in vats and will end in barrels.
The first impression this wine delivers is the surprising one of relating more to a white wine than a rosé. The bouquet offers notes of crushed strawberries, sweet spices, very floral notes of violet and hawthorn. The mouth is very powerful and generous, the grain is velvety and with a revitalizing freshness. The wine is built on tension and stamped with a brilliant salinity.
Contains sulfites.
Biodynamic wine and his winemaking follows the biodynamic lunar calendar. It breaks farming tasks into four days: root days, flower days, fruit days, and leaf days. Fruit days are for harvesting, leaf days for watering, and root days for pruning. The vineyard is left alone on flower days.
