Wow. It's not just top-class fizz coming out of England now; this Chardonnay is a real threat to Burgundy. Rich, balanced and delicious, it's a delightful surprise.
Fermented in a mixture of stainless steel and oak at cool temperatures using selected Burgundy yeast strains to enhance complexity, stone fruit, floral characters and minerality. Post fermentation there was full malolactic fermentation and extended fine lees ageing with regular bâtonnage to accentuate the natural weight. The wine was aged in oak for a little over a year before final blending.
A rich style of Chardonnay with orchard fruits, balanced with a creamy palate and subtle spice. A crisp and complex framework makes this wine an excellent match with food, and it also has the structure to support extended ageing.
Contains sulfites.
Whilst the wines are vinified and aged in Lyme Bay the grapes are sourced from vineyards around the UK. The grapes for their chardonnay come from plots around crouch valley in Essex
