For us, this is the classic Rioja. Rich, full bodied and aged for 6 months longer than required, it hits the perfect balance between fresh berry fruit and toasty vanilla from the barrel.
Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is a classic Rioja red from the historic Ygay estate, established in 1852. It is a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuelo, and Garnacha grapes sourced from vineyards at moderate altitude in Rioja Alta. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 16 months in American oak barrels, balancing traditional Rioja character with modern refinement.
Deep ruby red with aromas of ripe plum, red cherry, and mixed berries, complemented by spicy notes of licorice and sweet balsamic. The palate is full-bodied and ripe, with firm structure and a long finish featuring dark cherry and leather oak nuances.
Contains sulphites.
Marqués de Murrieta’s Reserva showcases grapes grown at higher altitudes in Rioja Alta, where cooler temperatures help maintain vibrant acidity and aromatic complexity. The extended oak ageing adds depth and structure, making this wine a classic example of traditional Rioja winemaking with a polished, contemporary style.
