Amigne is one of the world’s rarest grape varieties, grown almost exclusively around the village of Vétroz in Valais, Switzerland. Its name comes from the Latin ‘amoenus’, meaning enjoyable or delicious, and this example certainly lives up to that description. The wine is fermented in amphorae. The grapes are grown and vinified organically, and the wine is vegan-friendly.
Aromatic and full-bodied, with aromas of citrus, stone fruit and lime blossom. As the wine matures, honeyed notes begin to emerge.
Contains sulphites.
Where Tokaji has puttonyos, Amigne de Vétroz has bees: 1 bee signifies a dry wine (like this one), 2 bees medium, and 3 bees sweet.
