55% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon. With its above-average temperatures and sunshine, and hot days yet cool nights in August, 2015 was a wonderful year for the vines, which really shines through in the glass!
Château de Rochemorin is a historic estate in the Pessac-Léognan appellation of Bordeaux, owned by the Lurton family. The 2012 vintage, presented here in an impressive double magnum format, is a classic Left Bank red dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, offering structure, depth, and graceful ageing. The gravelly soils typical of the region contribute to the wine’s elegance and minerality, while the larger bottle size ensures slower maturation and added complexity over time.
Notes of blackcurrant, tobacco, and forest floor on the nose. The palate shows ripe plum, cedar, graphite, and earthy spice, with supple tannins and a lingering, smoky finish.
Contains sulphites.
Château de Rochemorin once belonged to the philosopher Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu—adding a layer of historical intrigue to this elegant and age-worthy claret.
