January Tasting Box

While some might advocate a “Dry January”, it will come as no surprise to you that we believe in no such thing. Drinking in moderation and responsibly? Absolutely. But January is a tough month at the best of times — and even tougher without one of life’s great pleasures.

That said, we know we may have encouraged a little festive splashing-out in December for that special bottle (we hope it was a good one…). So it feels only fair that this time we offer a cracking tasting box, delivered to your door for the rather princely sum of £65. Ordered...

While some might advocate a “Dry January”, it will come as no surprise to you that we believe in no such thing. Drinking in moderation and responsibly? Absolutely. But January is a tough month at the best of times — and even tougher without one of life’s great pleasures.

That said, we know we may have encouraged a little festive splashing-out in December for that special bottle (we hope it was a good one…). So it feels only fair that this time we offer a cracking tasting box, delivered to your door for the rather princely sum of £65. Ordered individually, these wines would usually come to £70 — and this time, we’re scrapping the delivery charge too. Once again, Grape Minds to the rescue.

The box begins with a gorgeous, rich Cava that we import ourselves. With a touch more bottle age than standard, it shows beautifully developed, moreish biscuity notes. Next come two excellent French whites, also imported by us: an unoaked Chardonnay that deserves a permanent place in the fridge, and a lovely, nutty white Côtes du Rhône (we dare you to love white Rhône more than Michael).

For the reds, we start with the red Côtes du Rhône equivalent, followed by a gorgeously smooth Barbera d’Asti, and finish with a rich, full-bodied Spanish Tempranillo — one of Graeme’s favourite discoveries of last year.

We think this is a wonderful, versatile selection, suited to any household — and especially fitting for January, as we all look to cut back in one way or another, without cutting out the good stuff altogether.
