Whilst not looking traditional, the Chartreuse tastes as classical as Bordeaux itself. Well balanced plum and cassis flavour with good oak influence. A must try
Chartreuse de Prieuré is a Merlot-dominant Bordeaux Supérieur made on the historic Prieuré estate near Saint-Émilion. The wine is crafted in a supple, fruit-forward style, offering an approachable take on right bank Bordeaux while retaining regional character. It is aged in a mix of stainless steel and older oak to preserve freshness and balance.
Aromas of plum, black cherry, and a hint of dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with soft tannins and flavours of redcurrant, dark berries, and subtle spice, finishing smooth and rounded.
Contains sulphites.
Produced on an estate with centuries of winemaking history, Chartreuse de Prieuré offers a snapshot of classic Bordeaux through a modern, drink-now lens. Its accessible style and careful vineyard work make it a standout within the Bordeaux Supérieur category—especially for those seeking a well-made red that doesn’t demand long cellaring.
