Creamy-textured Gruner from a top-tier vineyard in the heart of the Wagram region, with aromas of fresh papaya and pineapple and hints of spice.
Waldschütz Ried Brunnthal 1ÖTW Grüner Veltliner is a single-vineyard white from Austria’s Wagram region. Made from 100% Grüner Veltliner, it is a richer, more concentrated style than the fresh, peppery versions often associated with the grape. Ripe tropical fruit sits alongside savoury spice and a subtle tobacco note, with a broad, creamy texture and a long finish. Extended ageing on fine lees builds depth, while a proportion matured in small oak barrels adds complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
Mango, Papaya, Pineapple, Yellow Apple, White Pepper, Tobacco, Creamy Texture
Contains sulphites.
The “1ÖTW” on the label stands for Erste Lage, a classification used by Österreichische Traditionsweingüter to identify recognised top vineyard sites. Brunnthal is one of the standout sites in Wagram, where the vines grow in deep, pure loess — fine, wind-blown silt deposited during the Ice Age. The south-facing slope, warm Pannonian winds and moderating influence of the nearby Danube help produce a particularly rich, powerful style of Grüner Veltliner.
