From up in the Salta province, where some of the world's highest vineyards are planted. A terrific expression of the Tannat grape, from selected parcels. A dense but fresh palate dominated by black fruit with a floral violet note and dark chocolate on the finish.
Colomé is one of Argentina’s oldest and highest-altitude wineries, located in the remote Calchaquí Valley in Salta. The Lote Especial Tannat comes from a single plot selected for its ability to ripen Tannat grapes at extreme elevation—over 2,300 metres above sea level. The thin air and strong sun produce intensely flavoured grapes while cool nights preserve acidity, resulting in a bold yet balanced red.
Aromas of blackberry, liquorice, violets, and black pepper. The palate is dense and structured, with dark plum, cassis, graphite, and cocoa, supported by firm tannins and a long, powerful finish.
Contains sulphites.
The Tannat grape, originally from South-West France, has found a surprising second home in the high altitudes of Salta, Argentina. Colomé’s vineyards are among the highest in the world, bringing a unique combination of ripeness and freshness to this robust varietal.
