Citrus fruit leads the way in this South African Chardonnay but it has plenty more to give in the way of oak spice, a hint of hazelnut and orange blossom.
Rickety Bridge Chardonnay is produced in Franschhoek, one of South Africa’s most historic wine regions. The estate dates back to the late 17th century and combines heritage with modern winemaking techniques. This wine is barrel-fermented in French oak, which adds complexity while preserving the fruit-driven character typical of the region’s cooler sites.
Aromas of ripe peach, lemon curd, and subtle vanilla. The palate is medium-bodied with flavours of baked apple, citrus, and toasted almond, supported by balanced acidity and a touch of creamy oak.
Contains sulphites.
Rickety Bridge gets its name from the narrow, wooden bridge that once spanned the Franschhoek River to access the farm. The name was kept even after the bridge was reinforced—an apt metaphor for the estate’s blending of tradition and strength. Their Chardonnay reflects that ethos: rooted in heritage, but confidently modern.
