Deep red with ripe red berry fruit, cocoa, mint and chocolate on the nose. On the palate the wine has fine tannins, a full, rich body and a long lingering aftertaste.
Lanzerac Merlot comes from one of South Africa’s most historic estates, nestled in Stellenbosch. Known for its plush texture and ripe, expressive fruit, this Merlot is aged in a combination of French oak barrels to bring depth and softness. The estate’s position at the foot of the Jonkershoek Mountains contributes to cooler growing conditions, allowing for slow ripening and balanced wines.
Aromas of plum, black cherry, and subtle mocha. The palate is smooth and medium-bodied with flavours of ripe red berries, dark chocolate, and baking spices, finishing with gentle tannins and a touch of oak.

Lanzerac is credited with bottling the world’s first commercially labelled Pinotage in 1961, but its Merlot has quietly built a loyal following. This wine reflects the estate’s blend of tradition and modern winemaking, showing how Merlot can shine in Stellenbosch’s diverse terroir.
