Driven by a Cabernet Sauvignon core, this wine is full, fragrant and deeply satisfying with cassis, liquorice and plums on the palate as well as a decadent cigar-box quality.
Meerlust Rubicon is a benchmark Bordeaux-style blend from Stellenbosch, South Africa, combining Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Aged in French oak for 18 months, it’s a wine of structure, elegance, and ageing potential, produced only in vintages deemed worthy by the estate.
Aromas of cassis, plum, and cedar with hints of cigar box and dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied and refined, showing layers of black fruit, graphite, and spice, supported by firm tannins and a long, savoury finish.
Contains sulphites.
Meerlust has been owned by the Myburgh family since 1756 and is one of South Africa’s most historic estates. Rubicon, first released in 1980, was among the country's first premium blends made in the Bordeaux mould. It’s still made with the same philosophy today: estate-grown fruit, classic techniques, and long ageing before release—a South African icon with global pedigree.
