Château Talbot is named after the British general John Talbot, who was killed in the 1453 Battle of Castillon, which ended English rule in Bordeaux. It is one of the largest estates in Saint-Julien, a fact that is reflected in its substantial vineyard size and consistent, dependable reputation. The estate was classified as a Fourth Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification
