Château Balac is a family-owned estate situated in the Haut-Médoc appellation of Bordeaux. Owned by the Touchais family for three generations, the estate spans 10 hectares of vineyards planted on gravelly soils. The wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, matured in French oak barrels for 12 months, resulting in a balanced and expressive wine.
Deep ruby in colour, this wine offers aromas of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, and subtle hints of violet. The palate is well-structured, featuring flavours of juicy red berries, cassis, and a touch of spice, supported by fine-grained tannins and a lingering finish.
Contains sulphites.
Despite its modest size, Château Balac has maintained Cru Bourgeois status since the 1930s. Today, it's run by Bruno Touchais, who combines traditional Bordeaux winemaking with sustainable vineyard practices to produce a wine that punches well above its weight.
