From the high altitutde Groenlandberg mountains in Elgin, this is a classic cool-climate Pinot Noir filled with cherries and strawberries. A great mid-range food wine!
Oak Valley Sounds of Silence Pinot Noir is a refined red wine from the Elgin Valley, South Africa, made from 100% Pinot Noir. Grown at high altitude on the southern slopes of Groenland Mountain, this cool-climate Pinot Noir offers a delicate balance of fruit and earthiness. The wine is matured for nine months in French oak barrels, with 20% new oak, enhancing complexity without overpowering its natural elegance.
The nose reveals aromas of dried florals, fresh red fruits like strawberry and cranberry, and inviting savoury earthiness. On the palate, it is delicate yet fresh, with prominent flavours of pomegranate and strawberry, complemented by subtle vanilla oak nuances. The finish is long and refreshing, thanks to vibrant acidity.
Contains sulphites.
Oak Valley Estate, established in 1898, is renowned for premium cool-climate wines from the Elgin Valley. “Sounds of Silence” reflects the peaceful environment of its high-altitude vineyards, where the only sounds are the wind whispering through the native fynbos, capturing a serene sense of place in the wine.
