A supurb Chateau tucked between Cos D'Estournel and Montrose. 25 years on from the austere 1999 vintage, the waiting is paying off: we've got big savoury, earthy flavours, smoke and leather with baked berr y holding it all together.
Haut-Marbuzet Saint-Estèphe 1999 is a mature Bordeaux from one of the Médoc’s most distinctive estates. Known for its slightly unconventional winemaking style, Haut-Marbuzet combines power and softness, producing wines with rich fruit and silky texture. The 1999 vintage was marked by favourable weather, resulting in ripe, balanced wines with good ageing potential.
Evolved aromas of blackcurrant, leather, cedar, and dried herbs. On the palate, it shows medium to full body with flavours of dark plum, tobacco, and earthy spice, supported by well-integrated tannins and a smooth finish. The wine has softened beautifully, displaying elegant tertiary notes typical of a well-aged Saint-Estèphe.
Contains sulphites.
The 1999 vintage in Saint-Estèphe offered ripe fruit and structure, and Haut-Marbuzet’s signature plushness and generosity shine here. This wine is now drinking at an ideal stage, showing a complex interplay of fruit and savoury notes, making it a rewarding choice for those seeking a mature Bordeaux with both power and finesse.
